Genesis 32:22-32 First Lesson
22. The same night he got up and took his two wives, his two maids, and his eleven children, and crossed the ford of the Jabbok.
23. He took them and sent them across the stream, and likewise everything that he had.
24. Jacob was left alone; and a man wrestled with him until daybreak.
25. When the man saw that he did not prevail against Jacob, he struck him on the hip socket; and Jacob’s hip was put out of joint as he wrestled with him.
26. Then he said, “Let me go, for the day is breaking.” But Jacob said, “I will not let you go, unless you bless me.”
27. So he said to him, “What is your name?” And he said, “Jacob.”
28. Then the man said, “You shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel, for you have striven with God and with humans, and have prevailed.”
29. Then Jacob asked him, “Please tell me your name.” But he said, “Why is it that you ask my name?” And there he blessed him.
30. So Jacob called the place Peniel, saying, “For I have seen God face to face, and yet my life is preserved.”
31. The sun rose upon him as he passed Penuel, limping because of his hip.
32. Therefore to this day the Israelites do not eat the thigh muscle that is on the hip socket, because he struck Jacob on the hip socket at the thigh muscle.

Acts 9:1-18 Second Lesson
1. Meanwhile Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest
2. and asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any who belonged to the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.
3. Now as he was going along and approaching Damascus, suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.
4. He fell to the ground and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why do you persecute me?”
5. He asked, “Who are you, Lord?” The reply came, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting.
6. But get up and enter the city, and you will be told what you are to do.”
7. The men who were traveling with him stood speechless because they heard the voice but saw no one.
8. Saul got up from the ground, and though his eyes were open, he could see nothing; so they led him by the hand and brought him into Damascus.
9. For three days he was without sight, and neither ate nor drank.
10. Now there was a disciple in Damascus named Ananias. The Lord said to him in a vision, “Ananias.” He answered, “Here I am, Lord.”
11. The Lord said to him, “Get up and go to the street called Straight, and at the house of Judas look for a man of Tarsus named Saul. At this moment he is praying,
12. and he has seen in a vision a man named Ananias come in and lay his hands on him so that he might regain his sight.”
13. But Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much evil he has done to your saints in Jerusalem;
14. and here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who invoke your name.”
15. But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is an instrument whom I have chosen to bring my name before Gentiles and kings and before the people of Israel;
16. I myself will show him how much he must suffer for the sake of my name.”
17. So Ananias went and entered the house. He laid his hands on Saul and said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on your way here, has sent me so that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”
18. And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes, and his sight was restored. Then he got up and was baptized,

Colossians 3:12-17 Epistle
12. As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience.
13. Bear with one another and, if anyone has a complaint against another, forgive each other; just as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.
14. Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
15. And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body. And be thankful.
16. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; teach and admonish one another in all wisdom; and with gratitude in your hearts sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to God.
17. And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Rules for Christian Households

John 20:24-29 Gospel
24. But Thomas (who was called the Twin), one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.
25. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord.” But he said to them, “Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands, and put my finger in the mark of the nails and my hand in his side, I will not believe.”
26. A week later his disciples were again in the house, and Thomas was with them. Although the doors were shut, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.”
27. Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here and see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it in my side. Do not doubt but believe.”
28. Thomas answered him, “My Lord and my God!”
29. Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.” The Purpose of This Book
